International Synergies Limited ("we") are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This policy (together with our terms of use and any other documents referred to on it) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.


Information that we may collect about you

We may collect and process the following data about you:

  • information that you provide by filling in forms on our site www.nisp.org.uk (our site) or other forms we may provide you;

  • if you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence;

  • we may also ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them; and

  • details of your visits to our site, including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, and the resources that you access.

IP addresses and cookies

We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration and to report aggregate information. This is statistical data about our users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.

For the same reason, we may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive. They help us to improve our site and to deliver a better and more personalised service.

You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you log on to our site.


Where we store your personal data

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer and storing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers, which are only accessible to those who have been granted secure access appropriate to their role within NISP and who need to know your information.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.


Uses made of the information

We use information held about you in the following ways:

  • to respond to your enquires;

  • to identify, facilitate and manage business opportunities (synergies) between you and other members of NISP;

  • to generate best practice ‘case studies’ on successful synergies involving you (if you have consented to this) and publish them through the NISP website and other media, where this is appropriate;

  • to identify best practice within NISP and disseminate it to practitioners and members accordingly;

  • to collect and analyse data on waste streams, for the purposes of improving the effectiveness of NISP and to provide feedback to our stakeholders;

  • to provide support to legislators in respect of identifying trends and common barriers to progress regarding resource efficiency;

  • to provide support to the appropriate application of technology to resource efficiency; and

  • to produce statistical and/or trend analysis around a combination of technologies, resources, geographies and market segments, to facilitate the identification of new synergies, and replication of existing synergies.

As part of our use of your information, your information may be processed by our staff, agents, sub-contractors and professional advisers involved in the administration of NISP. People who use your information may be based in your region or country, or in another region or country (including outside the EEA). Only those people who need to know your information will be given access to it. By providing your information through our site, you agree to this use.


Disclosure of your information

We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 736 of the UK Companies Act 1985.

We may disclose your personal information to third parties:

  • if we, or substantially all of our assets, are acquired by a third party, in which case your personal information will be one of the transferred assets;

  • if the management of NISP as an ongoing programme is transferred to a third party, in which case your personal information held will also be transferred to the third party; or

  • if we are under a duty to disclose or share your information in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply any agreement we have with you; or to protect our rights and property, or safety of NISP members, or others.

Our site may, from time to time, contain links to and from other websites. Access to information

The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.


Changes to our privacy policy

Any changes we may make to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by e-mail.
